Mesa Boogie Mark V clean, with a real A2 capture as the reference

FM9 · by monzta1

The FM9's own grounded Mesa Mark V model, built to sit next to a real NAM A2 capture of the same amp: on an A2-capable device the capture IS this tone, here it is the reference the model is checked against.

Steps

ActionTargetWhy
set_typeamp 1, type_name=USA MK V Greenconfig/amp_models.json maps FM9's USA MK V Green to MESA/Boogie Mark V, Channel 1 (Clean); the tone_target above cites a real capture of that same amp's clean channel.
set_paramamp 1, param=DISTORT_DRIVE, value=3Mark V channel 1 is the clean channel; low gain keeps headroom rather than pushing into breakup.
set_paramamp 1, param=DISTORT_BASS, value=5Neutral low end; Mark V clean is not a bass-heavy voice.
set_paramamp 1, param=DISTORT_MID, value=5.5Even midrange so the clean channel stays articulate rather than scooped.
set_paramamp 1, param=DISTORT_TREBLE, value=5.5Slightly bright, matching the clarity of the cited capture's clean voicing.
set_paramamp 1, param=DISTORT_PRESENCE, value=5Neutral presence; adjust to taste for the room and cab in use.
set_paramamp 1, param=DISTORT_MASTER, value=5A usable starting output level; balance against other scenes.
